Call for Abstracts for Oral and Poster Presentations

Submissions Open: 19 March 2026

Submissions Close: 21 June 2026

We are pleased to advise that abstract submissions are now open. The 16th Australasian Plant Virology Workshop 2026 will be held at Rendezvous Hotel Perth Scarborough, WA.  The below abstract theme categories are a guideline only and other areas will be accepted.  Final session allocations will be determined on the abstracts submitted.  All crop groups welcome.

Abstracts close Sunday 21st June 2026 at 2359 (AWSTT). This will be an in-person workshop.  By submitting an abstract, you are agreeing that the presenting author will register (full-payment) and attend the symposium in-person.

Abstract Guidelines

Abstracts submitted must be original and not presented or published elsewhere. They should be no more than 300 words in length.  Please make sure you include recent results or outcome from the project/study that you are wanting to present.  Please note you will be asked to add in a brief biography for the presenting author (no more than 150 words) within the submission process so please have this prepared.

Abstract themes:

  • Biosecurity - recent incursions and on the horizon

  • New tools and technologies

  • Plant, virus and vector interactions

  • Plant virus diversity and evolution

  • Diagnostic methods

  • Epidemiology, Ecology and Management

APPS Bursary

Thanks to the Australasian Plant Pathology Society we have a number of travel bursaries available for early career and students to attend the Australasian Plant Virology Workshop 2026 at Rendezvous Hotel Perth Scarborough from the 27-29 October.
